One of the principles that govern the activity at eMAG is that “We make decisions supported by data”. And the “not-so-secret” for our speed is that not only senior managers make those decisions but most employees.
In order to do that, the employees need ways to access the data. They need to have the skills to understand the data and make decisions based on it.
While the business is growing, both the number of employees and the amount of data grow and bring new scalability challenges. What worked before may not work in the future, both in terms of technical scalability and the processes needed to make decisions using data.
Beyond the data democratization buzzword, I will address organizational, cultural, educational, and technical challenges of fueling a data-driven company.
