AI-Enhanced Cybersecurity for Energy: The ELECTRON Platform

Modern, digitalised, and increasingly decentralised energy systems represent critical infrastructures that provide essential services in a globalised and interconnected world. They are becoming targeted by an ever-growing number of cyber-attacks with potentially devastating consequences on people, the environment, and the economy. The presentation introduces the ELECTRON Platform for energy cybersecurity as an integrated solution to prepare and protect energy networks against a wide range of cyber threats and vulnerabilities. We will focus on applied artificial intelligence components that bring an important contribution for real-time prediction and anomaly detection of cybersecurity events, as well as for online deployment of mitigation actions. Relevant use cases for will be discussed covering renewable energy generation, EV charging infrastructures, efficient electrical grid management, and cyberwar actions from malicious state-sponsored actors.
