Containers are the de facto platform for running modern applications and help organizations looking to become more agile to innovate and respond to change faster. Modern applications are shifting to cloud-native and microservices architectures, and containers are a perfect way to encapsulate these pieces into portable units.

In this session, you will learn why a Lift & Shift to Kubernetes is the Path Towards Application Modernisation by hearing a story of how CloudHero migrated a PHP application from bare-bones VMs to a managed and auto-scalable setup on Amazon EKS. Andrei Petrescu (CTO, CloudHero) will go through the legacy setup, including the application and infrastructure deployment, bottlenecks, and security. You will also get a glimpse of the migration process and key decisions that ensured everything went smoothly. Finally, Andrei will cover the CI/CD process and the general flow of code deployment.

In this session, we’ll explore how Google Cloud can boost Agile development, from the data perspective and help digital native organizations strive.
With a judging eye, we’ll tackle some buzzwords like Data Democratization, Data Ops, and Data products, and we’ll put some Google Cloud services to the test against the Agile manifesto.

We are going to take a closer look at the data journey for user tracking data, starting from user devices to our cloud DataLake and the complex issues that come with this. A story about huge amounts of data, presenting us with an interesting challenge at every stage of the system – starting with scalable client-facing services able to process over 10 000 HTTP requests per second from over one hundred million active monthly users, big data jobs processing daily terabytes of data both in real-time and batch job and the required optimizations in order to balance costs in a cloud environment.

Most modern Business Intelligence tools are quite capable of offering us a view into the past: turning your data into pictures to help us understand what happened. Power BI takes this a couple of steps further. It has built-in functionality to help you get into the root causes of what we’re seeing in the data (“why did X happen”). And by integrating Microsoft’s Automated ML capability, it can help a business analyst predict what will happen next. Come to this demo-filled session to understand how you can use Power BI to move past the “What” and onto the “What’s Next” for your company.

Some would say that building a Big Data Architecture is as easy as playing a game. Although the process does have its challenges, we can be prepared by identifying the obstacles and the best solutions for overcoming them. One strategy is common for all the challenges and we will take the necessary steps to identify it together.

Given the fact that Cosmin has found similarities between these challenges and playing baseball, he will teach us how to play both sports: Baseball and Big Data.

In the data‑driven era, you need to be able to generate value from all of your data capital, from edge to multiple clouds to core. But the distributed nature of data can make it complex and costly. Traditional data management systems, like data warehouses, have been used for decades to store structured data and make it available for analytics. However, data warehouses aren’t set up to handle the increasing variety of data — text, images, video, Internet of things (IoT), and so on — nor can they support artificial intelligence (AI) and ML algorithms that require direct access to data.

Adding a data lake promised to help solve these issues, by enabling enterprises to capture and process all types of data — structured, unstructured, and semi‑structured —flexibly and cost‑effectively, achieve simplicity, flexibility, and intelligence insights, allow users to understand business results, and make quick actions on opportunities.
